So Now You Call Yourself A Progressive?
So what kind of person has to label himself “Progressive?” Obviously somebody who believes he (or she) understands real progress better than the rest of us. Because if you are a Progressive it implies that everybody else, let’s face it, is a Regressive, or maybe just a Stagnant. It’s a smirky, self-flattering way of saying you’re a lot better than the rest. So what kind of ego needs do you have to have to call yourself that? And what do you believe about others? In fact, Progressives must believe that other people are worse than they are; that only they can Save the Planet, or create Peace on Earth, or Solve Inequality, or whatever sin bedevils mankind. It’s like having a dream in one hand and shit in the other. One day you will come to realize that all you end up with is shit in one hand.
You Can Go Ahead And Call Me A Redneck.
Most people that are considered Rednecks have a lot of pride in themselves and in their country. They may or may not understand politics, but they believe in working hard and making a living for themselves. Politically, if any one takes a moment to think about what is actually going on, as opposed to what appears to be going on, it may be more simple than you think.
Rich or Poor?
If you said it makes since that the poor would be on the side of the democrats since they are the ones helping them out. You’re absolutely right! The majority of the population is not the rich, they are the poor. So how do you win elections? You try to convince the majority of the population that they need you. That’s why historically, the majority of minority votes and women’s votes are for the democratic party. It seems as though they are doing everything in their power to help these people, when in reality they are oppressing them.
By continuing to focus aid programs to minorities and women, they are propagating the lie that those groups are inferior to a white male. By continuing to push aid in their direction they are enforcing the idea that they cannot take care of themselves. The government should do it. Which of course leads to more government control, regulation, debt and inevitably, higher taxes for everyone. Now in the converse, republicans are often billed as looking out for the rich. Which in some way is true, but perhaps, misunderstood.
We live in a capitalist society. Which means that “We the People” own the wealth and businesses of our nation. Most of those rich people, are in fact owners of businesses and corporations. So in straight talk, the more rich they are, the better it is for our country and our economy. When these business owners have money coming in, they invest more money into their companies, which in turn, creates job, whether it be directly in that company, or in other companies that are suppliers or distributors for that company.
However, when their taxes are raised even higher, they are pay the highest tax rates anyways. They have less and less confidence to invest more money into their company. Just as you wouldn’t spend more money on your home, only to break even or possibly even lose money, these business owners are not going to invest more money into their companies if they do not forecast a financial gain. As to the debt ceiling, both sides are holding it up. Both sides realize that this is something that has to be done, so both sides are using it as leverage to push other agendas. Democrats what to raise taxes on the rich, and republicans want to cut spending from the budget.
